El glaucoma es una enfermedad silenciosa que no presenta síntomas y no se puede solucionar con la formulación de gafas, muchas de las personas que la padecen no saben que sufren esta afectación; aunque si bien, la visión que se pierde generada por la enfermedad puede no recuperarse, sí es posible ayudar a que el paciente no pierda el porcentaje de visión que le queda. El tratamiento busca reducir la presión intraocular, y se realiza dependiendo de la complejidad en la enfermedad del paciente; además el procedimiento puede ayudar a bajar la presión como alternativa cuando los medicamentos no bastan , o minimizar el dolor cuando el daño ya es irreversible.
